Future PlansOne of the major plans we have that has come out of our increased number of kidney failure patients, is to set up a dialysis centre. We are currently in the process of talking to various hospitals so that we could set it up in their premises. A dialysis currently costs around Rs 650/- to Rs 800/-. Additionally, medicines of around Rs 200/- are required. A patient requires between 8-12 dialysis done per month, and this is a serious impairment to his/her normal life. Thus, around Rs 8,000/- to Rs 12,000/- is spent by a patient each month just to save his/her life. Currently, we are able to give each of our patients only Rs 3,000/- which is just about adequate for 3 dialysis procedures. With a dialysis machine of our own, we hope to bring down the cost to around Rs 400 (on a no-profit-no-loss basis, with the cost being primarily that of tubing, heparin, medicines, salary of operator and rent), which will enable our patients to get all their requirement through the money given by PRAY. We are currently sponsoring 4 dialyses each for 85 patients each month. With our own dialysis machine, we hope to save around Rs 2.5 lakhs per month for our existing patients alone. The cost of the project is around Rs 25 lakhs to be completely financed through donations.
